The Knight King Verdict
The theme (and title) seems like my 5-year-old is trying to come up with a medieval story. It is, however, beautifully executed, which helps. When it comes to the gameplay everything revolves around the special symbol. This symbol adds random wins to the next spin. As expected, the bonus adds an extra layer to the special symbol by increases its value with every occurence.
Editor’s discretion: 8/20
You should play The Knight King if:
- You’re hoping to one day visit Neuschwanstein Castle in full armor, hoping to find your princess (or king) there.
- You get excited about random extras that aren’t too common.

Theme and Atmosphere
The Knight King has a clear medieval and fairy tale-inspired theme. Players will encounter a brave knight, a fearsome dragon, and a beautiful princess in their quest for riches. The theme is a classic and a little childish, but it is well executed, with an animation that pleasantly surprised me.
Gameplay and bonuses
The gameplay of The Knight King is traditional, with 20 winlines over five reels and three rows. The wild symbol can replace other symbols to help players create winning combinations. Wilds can also create their own combinations.
The Knight King introduces a special money symbol, adding an extra layer of excitement to the game. One of the paying symbols is randomly selected and given a value ranging from 0.5x to 20x the bet size. When the symbol lands at least once in the next spin, all of these values are combined for an extra payout on top of normal wins.
The special money symbol plays a crucial role in The Knight King. The game chooses a single symbol to act as the special money symbol for the duration of the free spins, and its value increases with each collection. Two extra scatters on the second and fourth reel add four more free spins to the total.
The math model in The Knight King is balanced, but the volatility is pretty high. The RTP is 96.05%, and the maximum win is 5,000x the bet size.
The special money symbol is a positive aspect of The Knight King, but it lacks other features to make it truly stand out. The game could benefit from a little more action, and I’m not a great fan of the theme – neither do I understand why it looks like the type of movie the Shrek franchise makes fun of.
